Velingrad is reachable by road and rail. The town lies on the main road between Pazardzhik and Gotse Delchev, and regular buses connect it to Pazardzhik, Plovdiv and other cities in southern Bulgaria. The railway station is on the narrow-gauge Septemvri to Dobrinishte line, a scenic mountain route.
