About Lyulin
Lyulin is Sofia's biggest residential district by population, a panel-block area on the western edge of the city between the ring road and Mount Lyulin. It is not beautiful, but it is well connected, with four metro stations on M1. Ten numbered micro-neighbourhoods, Lyulin 1 to 10, form self-contained grids of nine-storey blocks, schools and corner shops. Lyulin 5 and 7 are newest and best kept; 8, 9 and 10 feel older and more worn. Locals navigate by block number, so taxi drivers may ask for it. By 9pm shops along Tsaritsa Yoana Boulevard close, buses run half-empty, and the district becomes quiet. A flat walk from Lyulin metro along Slivnitsa Boulevard reaches a daily market and Zapaden Park. Dining is mostly grill joints, bakeries and fast food.
