Where is Sunny Day located?
Sunny Day is in Studentski, Sofia-Grad (Улица Акад. Жак Натан 1, Sofia, Bulgaria), close to Russian Church of St. Nicholas.
How much does Sunny Day cost per night?
Prices are set live by the hotel — check the booking page for a real rate for your dates.
What is a typical nightly rate for a hotel in Sofia?
A clean two-star or guesthouse private room in Vazrazhdane runs €30-45, a central three-star double in Sredets or Oborishte sits at €50-80, and four-stars around Vitosha Boulevard start at €100. The five-stars — Grand Hotel Sofia, Sense, InterContinental — begin around €180 and climb from there. Breakfast is usually included below four-star and charged separately (€8-13) above it. Bulgaria adopted the euro in 2026, so the rate you see is the rate you pay.
Is Sofia a walkable city?
The centre absolutely is — Sredets, Oborishte, Serdika and Vazrazhdane are all within a 20-minute walk of each other, and the yellow-brick streets around the Presidency are traffic-calmed. Pavements are uneven in places and winter ice is real from December to February, so pack proper shoes. Anything beyond the centre — Boyana, Bankya, Pancharevo, Dragalevtsi — needs the metro, a bus or a taxi. Vitosha Boulevard itself is fully pedestrianised.
Which churches and religious sites should I actually see in Sofia?
Five: Alexander Nevsky Cathedral (the gold-domed 1912 landmark), Sveta Sofia Basilica next door (6th century, the city’s namesake), the Boyana Church (UNESCO, 13th-century frescoes, €5 entry), the Rotunda of St George (4th century, hidden in a courtyard behind the Presidency), and Sveta Nedelya on the main square. If you have a day free, the Rila Monastery is 117 km south and the reason many Orthodox pilgrims come to Bulgaria. All five city sites are within a 15-minute walk of Serdika metro.
What is the best area to stay in Sofia for first-time visitors?
Sredets is the answer for a first visit — it puts you within a 10-minute walk of Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, Sveta Nedelya, the Serdica ruins and the yellow-brick government quarter. Oborishte just to the north is quieter but equally central. Both sit above Serdika metro, so the airport is 20 minutes away on Line 1. Expect three-star doubles at €50-80.
Which is the cheapest month to visit Sofia?
The first two weeks of January are the cheapest, once New Year is over and before the Vitosha ski weekends peak. Three-star doubles in Vazrazhdane or Serdika drop to €35-40, and even four-stars off Vitosha Boulevard fall under €75. November is a close second. Avoid Orthodox Easter and 24 May, when rates jump by a third.

About Studentski
Studentski Grad is Sofia's student city, home to around 40,000 students and campuses of the Technical University of Sofia and UACEG, with overflow from Sofia University St Kliment Ohridski. Numbered dormitory blocks sit on a grid off Akad. Boris Stefanov and Prof. Marin Drinov, each with a canteen, laundry room and often a basement bar. At 9pm courtyards fill with plastic chairs, beer and music; by midnight the crowd moves to Osmi Dekemvri. It is not aimed at tourists. October to May is full noise, with bars packed and grill queues by 23:00; July and August empty out as dormitories close and many bars shutter. The M4 metro reaches Serdika in about 12 minutes. Buses 122 or 66 run from the metro to Simeonovo and Dragalevtsi for Vitosha trails.
