The Four Faiths Walk starts at Sveta Nedelya Cathedral, crosses Marie-Louise to Banya Bashi Mosque, continues to the Sofia Synagogue on Ekzarh Yosif, then to the Catholic Cathedral of St Joseph on Knyaz Boris I, and finishes at the Zhenski Pazar for lunch. All four religious buildings are within 15 minutes on foot. The total walking time, including stops, is about 90 minutes. Do it before noon so the market is still at full trade. The district is central, so walking is the best way to get around.
When to go
Vazrazhdane is busiest in the morning. Wholesale trading at the Zhenski Pazar starts at 05:30, and retail stalls open from about 07:00. By 10:00 it is packed, and by 16:00 the best produce is gone. Sundays the market is closed apart from a handful of shops on the perimeter, so plan your visit for a weekday or Saturday morning. Spring and autumn are generally the most comfortable seasons for walking the Four Faiths route.
