Sozopol is about 30 kilometres south of Burgas, which has the nearest international airport. From Burgas, you can reach Sozopol by bus, taxi, or car; buses run regularly from the South Bus Station, and the journey takes around 40 minutes. If you are driving, follow the road south from Burgas towards Sozopol. Once in Sozopol, the old town is largely pedestrian, and parking is limited, so it is easier to park near your accommodation and walk. Local buses and minibuses connect the old town, new town and nearby beaches, and taxis are also available. For exploring the wider region, renting a car gives more flexibility.
When to go
The best time to visit Sozopol is from late spring to early autumn, typically May to September.
